Game-viewing is at its best between July and October, considered the dry season, when water is scarce and the bush is at its thinnest. Large herds of animals flock to rivers, waterholes and lakes. September and October, however, are extremely hot.
The wet season, otherwise known as the green season, lasts between November to February. Summer rains bring the plains to life, with grazing animals and birds in abundance. Migratory birds flock to these plains and one can observe many new-born animals too. Worth noting, however, is that the bush is at its thickest, so although game is abundant, it is not always easy to see.
Some consider the best months to view Victoria Falls to be April to June, when the Zambezi is at its highest and the falls create a thundering cloud. Others feel that a better time is September, when the river is low, so that spray from the falls doesn’t block the spectacular views.
