The dry season spans June to October and offers spectacular game-viewing almost everywhere. By mid-November the rains arrive and totally transform the plains. This is known as the green season, and lasts until March. This time of year also offers excellent opportunities for bird-watching, with migratory birds arriving in the thousands. January to February is the calving season, a superb time to visit and experience new-borns mastering their environment – while predators are not far away. April and May are the wettest months – this time of year is best avoided.
