Hermanus, a small seaside town south-east of Cape Town, boasts one of the best land-based whale-watching in the world.   Catch sightings of Southern Right whales as they come to give birth in the calm waters between June and November.

Just north of Hermanus is the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, literally translated as “Heaven and Earth”. It’s no surprise given the magnificent scenery. One of our favourite spots, and well worth a visit, is Creation Wines.

For nature lovers, the Fernkloof Nature Reserve is a must visit. 50 km of hiking trails for all fitness levels allows you to experience the remarkable diversity of the coastal fynbos while enjoying stunning views of Walker Bay.

If you’re looking for an adrenaline-rush, head for Gansbaai, a small seaside town offering one of the best shark-cage diving sites in the world. Horse-riding on the open beach is another popular attraction.

Take your pick of luxury accommodation, from eco-lodges such as Grootbos to quaint guest houses and boutique hotels. These have been hand-selected by us to give you the very best experience on this strip of coastline.
